I did read that the central locking switch can be activated/deactivated but there's also a few sidenotes about it. I turn the key to on, press the upper half of the lock switch for five seconds, and then start the car and accelerate...nothing. It seems, at least for now, I will have to stand ever vigilant and remember to perform the arduous task of pressing the button myself. Now, onto the throttle body project...
