Check the battery in the Key fob transmitter, if it is weak the car may not pick it up and thus no crank.
The batteries in the key fob have nothing to do with the cranking. Only thing they are there for is to open the doors or trigger the alarm. The transponder inside the fob does not require power, only the location of it in proximity to the pickup ring around the ignition. Don't go looking for a bad fob battery for any cranking issues.
