The batteries in the key fob have nothing to do with the cranking. Only thing they are there for is to open the doors or trigger the alarm. The transponder inside the fob does not require power, only the location of it in proximity to the pickup ring around the ignition. Don't go looking for a bad fob battery for any cranking issues.

if the key goes bad it could trigger the car into thinking its being stolen. it will crank but wont start. try the second key and if it starts then theres the problem. ask daytona jae about this! he went thru new rcm , ecu and it was the key all along.
