I also said how to run your car till you could get it fixed. It was something my son figured out. When I was at the first dealer last week, they had just towed a car in for the same problem. I just didn't want anyone to be caught in that position. Stuck!

Thanks to everyone for all the advise, next time, I will keep thing to myself
I am just stating the fact that $412 if it includes labor, will not fix your car, the part that is 'keyed' to your car is the key cylinder and not the part that is wrong. That is if we are talking about the true sticky key problem. If your problem is the tumbler part then alls well and good but the part that fails normally is the main assembly and that costs around $450 at the dealers plus labor and that's where the $1,000 comes in.
The beauty of the forum fix is that it will not fail again as the offending part in it is removed forever. Having a new assembly put in at the exorbitant price it is may lead to a future failure again, so you have gained nothing and lost $$$$$.

I think your dealer has misdiagnosed the problem, your problem is probably the the sticky key problem. Tumblers do not often fail, a squirt of lock oil usually solves any binding in them.

Sorry if you got upset but you seem intent on wasting money, money that may be spent on the wrong item. That means that there will be more money to be spent on the correct item.

If Pizza man says I am irritating then so be it, no helpful hints to him in the future.
If blackcrossfire07 thinks non Americans are hard to get along with, then that may be the trouble with the US today.
