80k miles, but sludge was so bas even the oil filler cap was blocked

  • Heads off
  • Lumpy cam?....not sure.
  • Timing cover off, new chain and 4 new guides whilst I'm in there - couple of hundred bucks
  • Pull a piston and inspect - hopefully okay
  • Clean upper oil pan and check oil sprays, visual check of other journals
  • Clean all possible galleries.
  • If I can get away with doing withough pulling the motor - all the better.
OH, you aren't kidding...someone never, I mean NEVER changed the oil.... well, in that case, I think you need to pull the motor, or flush the engine several times with cleaner, don't run it, but turn it over by hand with the pan off...which is a mess to do, but....if it were me, it's tear down time... I hope you bought this at a great price.... You will have to mic the cam, the journals, everything....too bad, man..
