Re: Run Flats available?
Cissy: My wife and I love our 2004 Blaze Red Coupe, but the no spare situation has been a trial. With only 13,400 miles on the car last October, we were enjoying the Fall colors at June Lake on a very good 2-lane road and in a 35 mph zone when "Bam" , front left tire went. I was driving as we passed through an heavily shaded area and must have run over a piece of steel. It sliced the inside edge of the tire clean down to the rim, ruining the rim in the process. After being towed from June Lake to the closest dealer in So. Lake Tahoe ($400) we replace both front tires and bought one new wheel. It took a while to trust the road again, but as the dealer said "it will probably never happen again." So 3 months and a thousand miles later it happened again on a perfectly good road, highway 49 in the town of Coloma. This time, again at about 35 mph going through town, I ran over something unseen on the road that was like a piece of spring steel. It punched a big enough hole to wreck the tire, but I guess we're lucky that the rim survived. Frankly, we are both getting paranoid about venture out in the country where we love to drive the car. Fortunately we were within cell-phone range in each instance. But we have driven the car in Nevada and Arizona where there is no cell coverage. We love the car, but Wow! After I get my two new rear tires on Friday, I'm not ever going to feel relaxed on trips again. It's the pits.
