Confirmed.
And just to keep the terminology straight:
Airbox = Silver OEM piece
Cover = Black plastic w/ open hole in center that nestles between manifold runners
The idea was, the charge pipe would come up from the rear, up the RH floor-pan, into a FMIC (entry on the bottom, U-turn and exit on the top, much like the SRT heat exchanger) and once the intercooled pipe made its way into the engine bay (same entry point as NW single) mandrel-bend a pipe to fit snugly against the E-320/ML-320 cover, and make its obligatory 90° turn into the manifold. The OEM airbox was never to be retained.
And honestly, the cover was only mentioned because the EGI harnesses look like azz on top of the manifold with the airbox removed. Many people run the plastic cover with the single Needswings... it looks good but the NW pipe is too far away from the cavity to look truly OEM. So, it's a swing and a chip-shot, not quite a miss but no home run either.
All moot though because my white car met an untimely death... or perhaps it was divine intervention? I originally volunteered my car with anticipation of a 8-10 week development time. Not having my car for the last five months would have put a huge hardship on me and Kim. I'm thankful I'm in the SRT.
So, it was meant to be that DJ was first, since he only has three Crossfires
