Just yesterday I read an article about the top fuel efficient 2012 sporty hatchbacks. The fastest one did a 0-60 in 8.8. Most were in the low 9's. The author raved about the performance. How many times have I read a post from new owners that a 4, 5, 6 year old XF N/A that can do 6.5 0-60 is unacceptable performance? Too Many.
But as the long time members know, this is fallout from the Crossfire now being a discontinued model. The Crossfire was aimed at a certain demographic and priced accordingly. As the years went by, depreciation allows a different demographic to partake in their glory. This forum is a wonderful timeline, browse through older threads of original owners who are blown away by the looks and performance, through the discontinuation and subsequent price drop where we saw more affordable Crossfires now being modded (most folks don't like to rip into a $30K brand new sports car. Just this past year I've noticed an increase of threads from either new owners or interested owners, looking at $10K cars and the first thing they complain about is how its 'only' a 6.5 sec 0-60 car. I recommend they buy a brand new sport hatch that gets 32mpg and rips up the pavement with their 9sec 0-60...oh, and most of them now have customizable interior lighting...*rolls eyes*.
Very good points, could not agree more.
