Xfire frustration.
If I had a dollar for every post from a new owner saying "As soon as I have some money I'm going to do what all of you other guys couldn't do by installing parts you've never seen or heard of and gaining 200hp all for under $500!!!", I'd have enough money to buy the Viper I've always wanted.
Just yesterday I read an article about the top fuel efficient 2012 sporty hatchbacks. The fastest one did a 0-60 in 8.8. Most were in the low 9's. The author raved about the performance. How many times have I read a post from new owners that a 4, 5, 6 year old XF N/A that can do 6.5 0-60 is unacceptable performance? Too Many.
But as the long time members know, this is fallout from the Crossfire now being a discontinued model. The Crossfire was aimed at a certain demographic and priced accordingly. As the years went by, depreciation allows a different demographic to partake in their glory. This forum is a wonderful timeline, browse through older threads of original owners who are blown away by the looks and performance, through the discontinuation and subsequent price drop where we saw more affordable Crossfires now being modded (most folks don't like to rip into a $30K brand new sports car. Just this past year I've noticed an increase of threads from either new owners or interested owners, looking at $10K cars and the first thing they complain about is how its 'only' a 6.5 sec 0-60 car. I recommend they buy a brand new sport hatch that gets 32mpg and rips up the pavement with their 9sec 0-60...oh, and most of them now have customizable interior lighting...*rolls eyes*.

I looked at a newer 2007 mustang gt before buying my xfire. If I wanted to just go fast, I would have bought it and blended in with the rest of the black 05-09 body style mustangs out there. While the xfire doesnt have the ***** or the huge aftermarket, it does have the handling, looks, rarity, and "fun factor". I would love to have my xfire going faster (and it will), but will never get to heavily modded gt mustang performance. Than again, the gt will NEVER look as good either
More power to anyone doing any mods to their car. I wish all of you luck with whatever it is that you do in life or with your ride.

All good points as well. I've never heard a Mustang owner have someone ask them:
"How much did that cost? $65,000?"
But I've been asked.
I did want acceleration, and the NA xfire didnt have it.... I bought a bike. Now Im satisfied on all around ultimate performance... My xfire will still be modded, it comes with the testosterone. Am I going to put shiny neon and rainbows all over it...... Hellll no. But I am going to make it even more unique by my own standards, by my own hands, my own way. Show me a car enthusiast that hasnt done something to their car to make it unique.................................... you cant... and the NA isnt slow but its by no means fast.

I keep my srt4 for going fast and srt6 for looking good.
I've got just under 400hp in my neon and 130k miles and going strong.
The neon is easy to work on and cheap to mod.
The crossfire is anything but cheap...
Think I'll keep the srt6 stock
