OK, after getting my first XF speeding ticket (81 in a 60) my question is what radar detector do you guys use, like, or want in your XF? There are a whole lot of different models and features out there, and I have no idea what the local three police departments use in their cars. Confusing to say the least, hope it doesn't turn into a 'what oil is best for my XF' posting. So, a can of worms opened?
Most use Ka band for radar, Lidar is the new laser, Vascar is timing, so no detector will help here. The airplanes use Vascar... Just take the advise above, do your research, as it isn't full proof. You still have to pay attn... Old guys like me, as others have heard more than once, never turned the unit on until we had a target (instant on feature), and your foot isn't as fast as my thumb, but it will warn people I just used it, but I got my target... Anyway, 81 in a 60, that makes you stand out really well... Today, you do want the anti radar feature, but that was developed for truckers for the most part since detectors are banned in commercial vehicles nationwide. Don't go too cheap, or you will get false signals from a lot of things other than radar....good luck
