I ended up rounding the back side of the bracket next to the windshield as it was too close for my taste, (screwed the two halves together and ground it down) and my windshield mount on the detector had a hole in the bracket between the suction cups that I used after taking out the suction cups. I got the wiring done up to the homelink a couple months earlier and was using the original suction cup mount at that point.
It's really just like MikeR 's Valentine bracket without the price tag or custom made final adapter. Did you check the ebay link I posted in here?

OK got it, yeah I got an offer in for one of those mounts. I can see in my minds eye the way you mounted one of them ball joints into the mirror, I'll see if I can get that to work. Do you say the mirror/mount is sturdy enough for a radar detector mounted to the mirror? I can see how the cobra mount would easily take the other side of the ball joint attached to one of the holes in the mount. And, nothing is in the way (those pesky tightening wings on either side? Thanks again, time to pull out my tap/die set and see what kind of damage I can do to my mirror. BTW, where did you find the room to tap into the mirror, center bottom, center back near the bottom? Maybe pictures??
