Oil filters $8.50 each if u hurry!
I've pretty much decided I'm going rogue on certain people and there way of thinking. (actually I guess I already have..lol) I find something that saves users a dollar.. well I'm linking it. I'm not here to make friends by conforming to their ways, and if they get sideways.. guess that's their problem not mine. Call me cheap when you won't even send 20 bucks to support the forum.. now that's a good one!
Mr M, the link for the 4 dollar mirror mount links to the auto-dimming mirror install (in your sig). Do you have the link for the 4 dollar mirror mount? Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion. Like I had said I just basically jacked the thread with a couple of post where I had taken the mirror loose.. tapped that hole in back with 1/20 thread and threaded the ball end into it. Using that post I re attached the mirror and put a drop of locktite on it (blue) and screwed it all the way in till it stopped. I ended up rounding the back side of the bracket next to the windshield as it was too close for my taste, (screwed the two halves together and ground it down) and my windshield mount on the detector had a hole in the bracket between the suction cups that I used after taking out the suction cups. I got the wiring done up to the homelink a couple months earlier and was using the original suction cup mount at that point.
It's really just like MikeR 's Valentine bracket without the price tag or custom made final adapter. Did you check the ebay link I posted in here?

They are plenty sturdy! And you just tighten the screws on the side till you have fair drag against it moving.
There is a hole already in the mirror where you can insert an allen wrench and turn the mirror to remove from it's windshield base - that's the one you tap .. just twist it in a circular direction (un screw it basically about a 1/4 turn or so). If you have the autodimming, there is enough slack in the wires where it goes back into the homelink wiring to lower it and get it tapped. You'll need to pull the dome light assembly to pull the slack back up after / while putting the mirror in place.

After you tap that mirror removal hole.. start the ball stud into the hole, and use it to twist the base back on (instead of the allen wrench when removing).
Maybe this will clairfy more.. And yeah.. I need to remove that big a$$ thumb wheel and put a nut in it's place.. LOL.

Sound advice from an experienced user! Have you tried that on a stripped thread on your hub yet? Rumor has it you can! Gotta luv the variety of creativeness in this forum!
And a fine job you do! Glad to see you've found a purpose in life!
