My wife and I did Route 50 once. It is not a bad drive to do at least once. A prettier drive to Fallon is to actually take I80 and then cut over to Fallon through Fernley. You drive by a river for a long ways on a nice curvy mountain road. Really pretty drive. Bonus is that it is not uncommon for everyone to be driving 85-90 on that stretch of road. I would not advise it however if you do not know what stretches of land are Indian Reservation. They pop you every time.
