I wanted to see what it would look like black before I go out and do it using permanent materials. The window suround is wrap, the slasher stripes are wrap and those will stay. But the rims, grill, and door handles will be done legit eventually. I understand what your saying and I used to agree and still do to an extent, but once this stuff is bonded it is smooth as paint... So I dont know where you are getting the whole "rough" look from.
I hear what you are saying, and I agree that it can be a good tool to judge future mods before you have something permanently painted. It has been a few years since I have used the product (I have used it for years to coat tool handles, one of its original purposes) and maybe they have gotten it to lay better since I have used it. Most of the cars I see with it, in any sort of sunlight you can clearly tell it is not paint, and it was not applied correctly because of 'air bubble' that have popped, but you can still see the indent of them.

Maybe I will give it a shot one of these days, because it if layed well and was pretty tough, it could be perfect for certain items for sure....
