Max, I had tested that concept to destruction on a set of donor lamp housings. The urethane glue is not heat softened, you have to cut, pry and cut some more. The result is uneven and not worth the risk of damage unless you have donors and a injury wish. I had really different plans of storing equipment in the housing and decided it was too far uphill to actually do. BTW the lenses are glass and the internals are rather sophisticated for a light.
