Try and download this link and save it to your desktop.
2004 Service Manual (click)
It is a big file and takes some time to down load.
Open it from the desktop and go to Section 23 page 35.
It shows the latch and the harness connection, it is possible that it was not connected at all when it was being fixed.
The harness is inside the hatch door and is accessible by removing the interior trim panel.
There is nothing to adjust, it works or it does not work.
