I have been installing an Alpine CDE-HD137BT with a set of Infinity 60.9CS speakers over the holiday weekend. I am almost ready to test everything tomorrow after wiring it up for a four speaker system (609CS in front and stock subs). I followed the advice on this forum and added another set of wires to the amp for the subwooferss. I also used a separate connector for the speaker wires to the amp (8 wires total) so I can hookup the pre-amps or the HU speaker wire outputs to hear the difference - simple wire plug to swap sources. Radio shack had nice connectors that made it fairly easy.

Here are some gotchas......The 6 inch and the tweeters DO NOT FIT without mods. My brother modified the 6 inch which required some cutting of the plastic mountng pieces. They are not a simple plug and play due to slight speaker design changes which interfere with the two mounting pieces that sandwich the speaker. It is not a major problem but does require some rework.

The tweeters DO NOT FIT the stock mounting brackets. The 609CS tweeters are much heavier and larger in diameter. I used small cutting tools to enlarge the tweeter hole and mounted one of the supplied mounting brackets in it's place. It took me a few hours to do each one and epoxy all of it but it looks like it turned out nicely. Once behind the stock grille plates you would never know anything was ever done.

The last problem is the large Crossover. I have not yet determined whether I will try to mount it on the panel or the door. In either case it is a problem - it is large and has some weight to it. I used the stock 6 inch speaker wire and connector from the amp (just left the original tweeter wire unconnected and tucked away) and used the original 6 inch speaker wire connector to create a connection to the crossover. All the Crossover connectors and speakers (6 inch and tweeters) are simple bare wire connections which is somewhat nice however I still have to splice in a male/female plug for future door panel removals. I just can't figure out where the best place is for this Crossover. It also has a 0 / -6db switch which I haven't yet determined what it should be set to.

I still have to mount the BT mic, fix the squeaks behind my ear and see if I can tighten the window fits to cut down on wind noise!

This is NOT a one day job (more like a weekend plus!) and I am glad I had some help working on it. I just hope I have all the wiring correct since I spend a lot of time soldering all the connections - at least I still have everything apart for testing.
