That's a good question, all I know is that they did back in 1970. The laws may be different now. The 70' Mustang had a lockable steering column, and I don't think the 69' did. I don't know if Federal Regulations dictated that all 70's needed that or not, but I don't think they changed the steering columns when they changed the titles... Any Mustang "historians" out there?
I am definitely not a Ford guy, but it is true about the '69 and '70 Mustang Cobras. They were talking about that on the last Barrett Jackson car auction about a month ago and I distinctly remember it. I doubt Chrysler would do anything like that to the Crossfires though. You should be able to tell in the VIN to when it was made and it should give you a pretty good idea of the model year.
