I would never call the roll bars fake. They are constructed sufficiently to avoid injury in the case of a rollover (OEM anyway) or they wouldn't put them on the car in the first place.

I did however wonder why the coupe guys bothered putting them in. After reading some of the posts I can see the benefits, but personally wouldn't put them on if I owned a coupe. Seems to me like they would take up too much space that could be used to cram other things in. The roadster doesn't have this issue, plus they look good when the top is down. Thats what I like about the, the visual aspect, which you cant even get in a coupe because you can barely see them.
