I'll test it out a bit more with all the suggestions and do a little more trouble shooting this weekend and post my results. The weather is kind of off today so it will probably be tomorrow.
I don't know of anyone with a Xfire is close to you but if so maybe they would be willing to swap out the TCU and see if that might be the problem. if not that, it sounds as if it's in the wiring someplace, it doesn't seem to be mechanical, which might be good. Wiring may be more dificult to find but less $ to fix.
