I knocked it left, and it went to 3, I knocked it right and it stayed in 3.
This told me that either the "+" side of the switch was bad, a wire in a connector was loose/corroded/broken or the switch assembly was out of alignment with the shift (not sure if that is possible, but I am assuming it would be easily fixed and not a TCM problem).
That is what mine ssems to do but it also does it in pure auto (reves up to 4-5G at 40 and won't shift) and if I start in 1st (auto stick mode) it won't find 2nd. I'll test it out a bit more with all the suggestions and do a little more trouble shooting this weekend and post my results. The weather is kind of off today so it will probably be tomorrow.

I don't know of anyone with a Xfire is close to you but if so maybe they would be willing to swap out the TCU and see if that might be the problem. if not that, it sounds as if it's in the wiring someplace, it doesn't seem to be mechanical, which might be good. Wiring may be more dificult to find but less $ to fix.

The problem probably lies in the electrical/valve plate assembly in the bottom of the transmission, sticky valve or solenoid.

So I installed the ultra-gauge today and not one code stored according to that. Not sure what else to try short of going back to the dealer.

When you say "bottom" of the tranny does that mean inside it or something on the outside. And if it was something on your list what is the cost of fixing it (at a shop)?

THanks

CM

I think the plate assembly that 180 is talking about is in this thread:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-problems.html

Give it a read and see if any of the symptoms relate to your problem.

As far as no codes being pulled - earlier in this thread Doc mentions you might need a Dealers "Star" system to get a diagnostic. Then, Pizza and Alaxfire talk about getting the Ultraguage. Since I have absolutely no experience with either of these systems, I am wondering if they are equal. Can the Ultraguage diagnose as well as the "Star" system?

Thanks

RL

The UltraGauge will read out and reset codes, it will NOT diagnose like the STAR.

UltraGauge : $62
STAR : 2 gazallion $

LOL!! True dat!!

But, hopefully CM will find a dealer that has one he can "demo" before purchasing the unit

And, if he happens to get a good diagnosis during the demo and ends up not needing to buy the system, then lucky him

Is it possible that you are "shifting" the transmission by leaving your hand on the shifter ****. I have done that, especially when turning corners.

Just a thought.

Good read above. Sounds like my issue. Well at least all the stuff is in the tranny so hopefully my new warranty will cover it all (they cover tranny and all internally lubed parts). ;-)

Thanks for all the help so far everyone. This is such a great site. I have learned a TON!!!!

OK so I finally got a "pending code" today, P0715. Now it's been going good and I was all stocked then it went into limp mode again. Today I go to drive it and get my first code (I've put on 800+ miles without issues). No tranny leaks, drove ok today other than the code, ect. The Chrysler dealer here are complete retards and I don't trust them. The only MB dealers are all the way in Vegas and not sure if a "pending code" is something to go all the way there for. Also my warranty is in effect next week so if the code is an "internally luberciated part" it will be covered.

Ideas on this code? This was the only code and it went away after I turned the car off.......?

Here is the code definition:

P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Not quite sure what it means. Do a search on the code - I would bet there are threads that have it in them.

Looks like from what I read I need one of these (maybe). Would this be the one in our tranny's (722.6xx)?

Thanks
