New and need some quick help
I've spent the last few days reading and reading about problems these cars have but bought one anyways.
He is some background first.
Owned car: 2 days
Miles: 63,000
Type: 2006 2dr cpe limited w/auto
Warranty: Carchex deluxe (almost B-t-B) 4yr/60,000
Extra: I think I got most of it.
Location: Sunny southern UT
So here is why I are writing, I have a little issue so far and it sounds like a common issue (or not?). I backed up my car then put it into drive and took off like a bat outta hell and it just maxed the RPM's and seemed like it wouldn't leave 2nd gear. Shut the car off and it went away. Later on I pulled out of my garage and didn't get on it really and same thing. Shut the car down and problem solved. There was one other time that it seem to start is when I put it in drive and then played with the shifter to show 1st gear then nailed 2nd gear and that was it, it would go any further (this was the first time I have ever withnesed the issue). I'm new and now a little baffled since I have crammed so much into my brain so I thought I would post.
I called the dealership and they want $295 to change the tranny fluid and $120 for an oil change (I have no idea if it was ever done (tranny) and the last time the oil was changed). Is this high or sound ok to everyone (not a bid DIY'er here). Also should this be the first thing I try to solve the issue? I bought the warranty just incase (I worry like that) it might be something that gets worse.
Ideas, suggestions, ect........?
Last issue is where the heck do I buy a side mirror **** at? Dealership only? Does it have a part number or a specific name?
Thanks for reading and helping.
I love this little car so far, just need to work out a few bugs...........

Sounds to me like you have it in manual mode.
But it's been so long since I drove an Auto Crossfire....
With synthetic oil going for $10 a quart and $15 oil filters, $120 is not a bad deal.
Of course, MY oil changes are done just past my laundry room in my own garage for around $78.
If they are REALLY doing a PROPER automatic service, $300 probably isn't all that bad.

Is it possible that you have accidentally put the car in the "auto-stick" mode and are not shifting it manually? All it takes is a pull to left on the shifter when it's in drive and you are in auto-stick - kind of like a manual shift.
When it's acting up, look at the shift indicator on the dash. If it shows a number instead of a letter, you are in auto-stick.

It did show a number until I turned the car off and now it shows "D". The last 3-4 times it acted up it just showed a "D". No error codes or nothing.
When it runs great, it runs GREAT. And them other few times???????

Sounds like low tranny fluid level to me.
In 'D', and you drive normally, it should shift 1-2-3-4 at about 2500 rpm each time.
If you put it in '1' when stopped, then go WOT, it should shift up at 4500 each time.
See thread : https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...dip-stick.html
about a DIY tranny dipstick.
There is an outside chance that the TCM could be faulty.
Raise the car up and check the electrical transmission connector for fluid leaks, quite a common problem on these and MB cars.

I somewhat had this happen to me when I would have the car in drive (not in auto-stick). I have an SRT and I bought it with 85K on the clock. When really getting on it from a dead stop, sometimes it would go into "limp mode" which is when the car will shift into 2nd gear and not shift out of it. At the time, I had no idea that these cars even had a "limp mode". When I drove it normally, it shifted fine. After a week or so, it felt as if the tranny would slip when I would put my foot in it at about 40 MPH. I checked the service manual and saw that these cars needed a transmission fluid change at 80K. Since I am the fourth owner, I was certain that the previous owners drove the car like I did (spiritedly) and figured a fluid change was in order. I am not a good DIY'er so I took the car to a dealer. They dropped the pan and changed the filter and I asked them to back flush the torque converter to make sure that they got as much of that old fluid out as possible. That service cost me about $500, but after it was done, I have had zero problems with the car shifting.
I'm not saying you need a fluid change since your car only has 63K on it, but it helped mine. Just my $.02
Good luck!!

Do you (or anyone) know if you take the seal off of the transmission tube to use a dipstick, will it void any warranties? I have a 3 year drive train warranty and the OP has a 4 year warranty and I have wondered if doing something like this would have an adverse affect on the warranty. Just curious.
Thanks.

You could shoot a PM to Rob ( needswings ) and see if he stocks, or can get them.
He has them in his transmission fluid change kit :
"Transmission Fill Port Cap Locking Tab"

OK so back from the dealership and everything seemed fine until I left the gym (about 2hrs later) and wouldn't shift from 2nd again??????? WTF??????????
They charged me for a tranny filter, fluid, gasket, and labor ($259.00) and did the oil and 38 point inspection (passed everything).
So here are a few things I noticed and will continue to try to narrow down the issue (daily driving) and please remember that I AM NOT very fix it savvy so I'll try my best.
Lefter dealership with car in auto and switched to "S". Drove it like I stoled it and everthing worked like a charm (made me smile). Came home and got ready for the gym. Left for gym and no issues at all. Now I'm going to mention this but I'm not sure that it matter but it might, each time (dealership and home) I put the car right in drive and away I went. Now when I left the gym I hit reverse and them drive, pulled out to the stop light and took off. Car took off hit second and then just stayed there (I assume 2nd as the thingy said "D") and was pulling about 5G going 40. Pulled over, shut the car off then tried something weird (i switched it to "W", no problems from my last post to today). Now when I put it in "W" I once again started the car and put it in drive and no issues on the way home. Like I said not sure if it matter but I'm trying my best to explain.
I also notice a high pitched whistle coming from underneath the car when I pulled into the garage (prob normal) not to loud in drive but switched to park and it got louder (not like bad loud but just more noticable). I went from "P" to "R" to "D" and did that a few times and every gear the noise was there just changed tunes.
I'm kind of getting stumped here but hopefully I can figure it out. Also I never have put it back in manual (or whatever it's called as that started all my issues it seems like).
What I'm going to try to do is switch from "S" to "W" and do some reverse and forward test and see if I get different result in the 2 different setting.
I thought the fulid might do the trick but I'm just not that lucky. I have 800 miles to put on until the warranty kicks in but it might be a fix I can just get done before that. I pulled a carfax on it and it's only had 2 owners and I'm the 3rd and at 62000 miles it should be something simple I hope ( Hell maybe it me doing something wrong).
Sorry for the long post but you peeps seem to know these car so well, the dealer said "wow i've never seen one of these before" and that kind of scared me..............lol
