I got that figured out just not what to do about a "scoop" or other device for housing the filter. The biggest thing is needing to cut into the surround at the firewall around the wiper transmission. I have decided that if I cut a 18" section out and weld in a box 18"x14" I can make it work with a K&N filter .........just have not seen a nice looking solution for the bulge or air intake needed to be in the hole in the hood without looking like it doesn't belong. Open to any and all suggestions.....the 1 I had looked at is not esthetically appealing.

Please do not forget the A/C system (heat and air) gets its airflow from the entire area under the wipers. If you start sucking large amounts of air from that area you may be starving/drawing air from the interior (reverse flow). Maybe not, but then again, if you experience adverse air conditioning symptoms it might be airflow related.
