You are correct. On a 6 speed car, when you release they key the starter disengages, whether the engine is running or not.
Hence, I believe the "Pulse Module" in a 6 speed is just a jumper from the line coming from the keyswitch to the line going to the starter relay/solenoid. Going to tear into mine in a few minutes and find out!
