The clutch bites mid pedal or maybe a fraction above, but there is no free play on the pedal it feels tensioned right to the top if you know what I mean, it isnt slipping and i'm thinking that at 55000 miles it shouldnt need a clutch yet so i'm hoping it will just be a case of some adjustment.

I'm off to bed now after an overnight ferry crossing but will be out pottering around it in the garage this afternoon so i'll probably be back on here with a couple more questions, when I get my head into everything properly.

CLUTCH
DESCRIPTION
The clutch mechanism consists of a flywheel, a single, dry type
disc, and a diaphragm style clutch cover. A hydraulic linkage
is used to operate the clutch release bearing
.
From scanning the clutch section of the SM, there does not appear to be any adjustment for the engage point.
