Thanks for the info guy's, i did a little research after my last post and found it was a hydraulic clutch, i'll see how it goes.

I've just finished the standard de-crud of the rear arches excercise, looking at the floor afterwards I must have removed about half a kilo!!

I've dug it out with a plastic scraper, followed by a clean around with one of those green plastic kitchen pads, then applied a good dollop of that gloopy 90w gear oil on a saturated cloth which I rubbed in, I left that to soak in while I had a brew then finished with a handful of grease rubbed all around the arch lip, so hopefully she's protected for a year in that area now.
