Before I knew that I had the OEM battery (the Varta) in my car, I was having the same problem - going down the road and it would die. I inspected my connections at the battery posts - they felt tight, but after a little persuasion, I got one of the connections to move. I disconnected the cables, cleaned the posts really well, cleaned the clamps and made sure there was NO corrosion on them and then re-attached them, ensuring I got them tight this time. Never had a problem with it dieing again ... until the battery died about 3 weeks later.

Yes and I would suggest checking the integrity of all engine ground straps as well. Look for corrosion and terminal tightness.
