non start and cutting out
Hello again from u.k re my previous post i pulled rcm and yes the connections were a bit dodgy. My local t.v repair shop re soldered the connections, and i thought we had cured the problem. Out on test about the same distance and it cut out and refused to restart. I dont think cps as it spins over o.k and fires up straight away and runs fine no misses or anything. I am now thinking fuel pump relay or a connection making and breaking under heat. Any further suggestions would be more than welcome. thankyou mickmatt

Did you ever address the battery as mentioned in your previous thread? Is it the white Varta? You say it is turning over, so that is a good sign, but the Varta is coming to the end of it's life. Before I knew that I had the OEM battery (the Varta) in my car, I was having the same problem - going down the road and it would die. I inspected my connections at the battery posts - they felt tight, but after a little persuasion, I got one of the connections to move. I disconnected the cables, cleaned the posts really well, cleaned the clamps and made sure there was NO corrosion on them and then re-attached them, ensuring I got them tight this time. Never had a problem with it dieing again ... until the battery died about 3 weeks later.

O.K. refitted rcm and engine started straight away and running fine, went out on road test and travelled approximately the same distance as before and the engine cut out and we had to be recovered. Just been out after an hour and engine fired up straight away and running fine. This is making me think something is getting hot and making and breaking contact, i.e fuel pump relay? and or ign coil relay. Any further suggestions please before i go to dealer for diagnostic check. Thanks in advance. Cheers mickmatt

Yes and I would suggest checking the integrity of all engine ground straps as well. Look for corrosion and terminal tightness.
Hello again just a quick update, had it recovered to main dealer who read codes. Turned out to be CPS breaking down when getting hot. That was going to be next point of call, but it started within half revolution with no misfires or uneven running. Thanks for all your input, help and advice. Also we may have averted the RCM problem. So another Crossfire will be back on road tomorrow. Can now get back to sorting out my 73 Mach 1 for the upcoming rally in France. So once again thanks you guys cheers mickmatt
