I'm pretty cheap too. I'm from Wisconsin (Motto: "Save your money: Buy Cheap Booze") and when I'm not trying to impress anyone, I buy Famous Grouse (blend). They do a nice job with that. It's a blend (I did not know this) of: Highland Park, Macallan and others.

Smooth, Not to boggy. Nice. Cheap.
