As there is another read titled "trim question" where he correctly refers to a piece of windshield trim in the question, I saw this one asking about silver trim and responded. I thought internal was a mistake because there is no "internal" silver trim.
No apology is needed for knowing that trim sometimes goes around something, your apology should be for not knowing it has many meanings.

Also as it is in the UK forum it may have some different meanings there than we on this side of the pond are familiar with.
However, here is Webster's definition. (click)

Trim can be found on the inside of our cars and some of it goes around the gear shifter and apart from the boot, it is silver.
