How much it evens out depends on how much driving you do, I guess.

There is a difference in the petrol costs as well, here locally in Ontario we are paying CA$6.58 for an Imperial gallon for premium at the moment. That would be about US$5.40 for a US gallon. Most of the cost is taxes to pay for everything like health care etc. the US government does not have such a high cost for these things and someone has to pay.
They give the gasoline away in the States.
