New battery required
My Crossfire has been off the Road since the end of October and the battery (factory original from 2006) is completely flat. I am giving it a trickle charge to see if it can be restored, but I doubt it. Can anyone recommend a replacement and where to get one. Thanks
Cheap batteries are not worth it, you need the lead inside, unfortunately this makes them heavy.
Think I would look at Eurocarparts
Halfords have a Bosch S5 5 yr warranty battery @ £116.99 Euro have it at £121.20 but its 20% off week so I make that around £97 but I would check first

I paid for my license plate tag today - $82 for the year. I have seen obscene prices in the UK for that on the forum.
Maybe it all averages out in the end though.
You can buy a Crossfire cheaply compared to us here in Canada, but your batteries appear to cost the same in pounds as we pay here in dollars. In the US they are even cheaper.

How much it evens out depends on how much driving you do, I guess.
Yes, XF prices are pretty good here but running costs, oh boy - obscene is about right - cheapest road tax for a XF registered before 23 March 2006 is £270pa - but if registered after that it's £460pa - ouch
- and premium unleaded is around £1.45/ltr (£6.60/gallon) Just spare us a thought next time you're filling up at little more than $4/gal...!

There is a difference in the petrol costs as well, here locally in Ontario we are paying CA$6.58 for an Imperial gallon for premium at the moment. That would be about US$5.40 for a US gallon. Most of the cost is taxes to pay for everything like health care etc. the US government does not have such a high cost for these things and someone has to pay.
They give the gasoline away in the States.

While many would disagree, I will concede that gas here is quite cheap. I need to fill up soon, better do it before prices rise a couple more pennies a gallon and gets above $3.70 a gallon for Premium.
To get back on topic, an old saying my dad had when buying batteries was this, "buy the heaviest battery in your size you can find". The reasoning behind this is that a heavier battery will have more lead, and therefore produce more power. This doesn't really apply to new AGM batteries and other newer compounds, but still rings true for the traditional lead-acid batteries.
Just for comparisons sake, I can get a battery for my car for about $89, it costs me $54 a year to register/tax my car and I paid $14,000 for it over a year ago.
You win some, you lose some.

Thanks again for all the comments. I think that I am going with the Varta Blue Dynamic.
I just paid the £460 road tax a couple of weeks ago and was trying to put it out of my mind, but plenty of reminders about the exorbitant UK tax sum in this thread.

I pay € 772,00 for road taxes a year.
Payed €176 a month for insurance, but next year €134 a Month.
Still very happy with the crossfire, most people are driving 1.0 liters taxfree here.

Thanks again for all the comments. I ordered a Varta Blue Dynamic (E11) which was delivered today (£62.99 delivered). It fitted perfectly and everything worked (inc radio) without any need to reset etc. Took the Crossfire out tonight for the first time since last October – joy.
