When replacing a relay you need to wick away the excess solder, and trim the retaining prongs down flush to the board, that way you have less prong engagement length to remove from the holes. A frustrating job no doubt though.

I tried the wicking, no joy. I used my old solder sucker from my Field Engineering days with NCR and finally got it done. The one I replaced was the air pump relay.
I also gave a set of relays to maxcichon, and he assures me that being the genius that he is, and having the shop equipment that he does, he'll have NO problem.
We'll see.
