Does anyone know where I can get a new on mine isn't working correctly, I tried buying a new one of the autopartshop.com but the part is back ordered. Stumped.

Do a search on this site to find out how to repair it yourself or who can repair it for you.

If "fixing" is an option.. TV repair shop or Hobby shop can do the solder work if needed.. Click the Video RCM link in my signature if you haven't already found info on it.

My RCM is dead as well (fried my air pump too). I sent Tighed1 a PM in early March but he hasn't responded (or logged on) since. I hope he's alright.

I'm interested to see what you decide to do: procure a new/used replacement, repair at a local electronics shop, etc. Keep us in the loop.

Thanks!

Go to ANY radio shop (you know, places that fix and sell radios to police/fire/etc.) and take the RCM in and ask for a tech to reflow the solder on it.

This will cost you up to $50 or so - but probably more like $20 - MOST problems are cracked solder joints and this fixes them.

Unless a relay is pitted badly or has an open coil, there is no reason to replace the RCM.

I'm thinking Pizzaguy could start repairing them by re-soldering and replacing the burnt out relays. Tighed1 has disappeared and Pizzaguy is a pro at this type of work. That sure beats buying new or used ones with the same potential faults. Who seconds this motion?

I second it, but I wouldn't wish the relay replacement part on anyone.
I did successfully replace ONE, but would not care to do it again.
You need an industrial grade solder sucker and at least a 100w iron for that and I don't have either.

I think Pizzaguy has definitely proved himself to be a professional grade solder sucker, so that should qualify him for the job without doubt. LOL

I saw before that you had replaced a relay, was one of these, Siemens part#V23.076 or
American Zettler part# AZ970E-1A-12D the part number of the relay? I listed these in another post but need confirmation.

When replacing a relay you need to wick away the excess solder, and trim the retaining prongs down flush to the board, that way you have less prong engagement length to remove from the holes. A frustrating job no doubt though.

I tried the wicking, no joy. I used my old solder sucker from my Field Engineering days with NCR and finally got it done. The one I replaced was the air pump relay.
I also gave a set of relays to maxcichon, and he assures me that being the genius that he is, and having the shop equipment that he does, he'll have NO problem.
We'll see.

Relay available here. AZ970-1A-12D American Zettler | Automotive Relays AZ970 1A 12D | Onlinecomponents.com
Minimum order is 20 bucks, 13 week back order, if you can get them quickly somewhere else, good luck.
This type solder sucker will do the job http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...howFullReviews

I gave 5 to maxchichon, I have 6 left.
If it wasn't for shipping rates to Canada, I'd just send you some. How many do you want ?
( I'll have to paypal you for the postage )

Two or three if you can spare them, I'll keep them for spares this side of the border. I'll pay for the parts as well as the postage, thanks for the kind offer though George, fairs fair I say.
