These are a lot like motorcycles, in the sense that you'll see people get rid of them for CHEAP when times get hard. Lurk on Craigslist and see what pops up... Specifically, Clarksville (because of Ft. Campbell)
We had two SeaDoo jet skis, one with the 180HP SC motor and one with the 215HP SC motor. My dad's back couldn't take it anymore so we got a SeaDoo boat (Sportster 150) with the 255HP motor. In the lowlands the boat will go about 65 and about 40 at 8500'.

The jet skis with the 180HP or better engine should be able to run 75 on smooth water. The non-sc motors will still do great at the lower altitudes.
Any yes, you can hear the supercharger whine on these.
