Default Anyone into Jet Skiing???

I'm thinking about buying an older Jet Ski, as I really don't want to spend a lot of money on something the wife and I might not use. From what I've seen, I can get a decent older model with trailer for around $2,500, which is what I'd like to spend.

Does anyone on here have any experience with them that can offer up a good suggestion on what Make/Models to seek out? I think I'd prefer the seated style with room for the wifey and I both, and of course I'd like to buy something fairly quick. It would also be great if it was realiable and easy/inexpensive to mod. Yes, I know that's a lot to ask.

I had a Kawasaki TS650 years ago.
Powerful and stable for two riders and a lot of fun
Don't remember the model year though

Anything with the Bombardier motor is good, from what I've heard. For $2,500 you can expect some scuffs and nicks, but those will be hard to see at 50mph on the water

These are a lot like motorcycles, in the sense that you'll see people get rid of them for CHEAP when times get hard. Lurk on Craigslist and see what pops up... Specifically, Clarksville (because of Ft. Campbell)

We had two SeaDoo jet skis, one with the 180HP SC motor and one with the 215HP SC motor. My dad's back couldn't take it anymore so we got a SeaDoo boat (Sportster 150) with the 255HP motor. In the lowlands the boat will go about 65 and about 40 at 8500'. The jet skis with the 180HP or better engine should be able to run 75 on smooth water. The non-sc motors will still do great at the lower altitudes.

Any yes, you can hear the supercharger whine on these.

Thanks for the replies. I'm keeping my eye out for a 4 stroke so I don't have to bother with oil.

As John stated, stick with the Bombardier setup and you will be good.
