The stealership is trying to tell me that there or were two different altenators for the SRT6. The earlier models are different than the later models produced. I find this very hard to believe. Does anyone have any information concerning this issue.
Also I am patiently waiting for a new supercharger. The supercharger is on national backorder. The sc pulley bearing is bad. That is the reason for the new complete supercharger.
They have had the car for 3 1/2 weeks. I am very close to going over and picking up the car and taking it to another dealer.
On the positive they have been renewing the rental .The SRT is on an extended Chrysler warranty.
Yes there are two different models if you take things at face value. Valeo was used for the SRT6 and Bosch for the others. Now for the kicker, the Bosch they will spec will not work, well sort of kinda will but not right off the bat. The Valeo for the SRT6 uses a 8 rib pulley set up where the others use a 6 rib set up in the car. That means either the bosch unit needs your pulley off your car or you would need to source a new one.
Now depending on what is wrong with your alternator the valeo can be rebuilt on the cheap. The design of the voltage regulator included all new brushes and for less than 50.00 in parts. Now if you need ore than that you start to get into labor to rebuild and at that point you may be able to find a rebuilt unit for less than a local rebuilder.
