I think we can ignore any so called stresses due to vibration and heat etc. The problem lies in the wave soldering, the posts did not get properly pre-heated and or fluxed and therefore were prone to a cold joint or dry joint - period. Solder has changed in Europe, they went to lead free solder, the wave soldering was the problem though, not enough heat, you can sense that when you re-solder them. Anyone who wants to waste their money on a new one I say let them, maybe we can get their old one cheaply.
