That tells me the feature is set to work.
The only possibility is that with three wires the program has to change on one part so that a different pair of wires are selected for each event. This could explain why one works and the other does not. Frankly though I doubt it.
I am at a loss to explain why the OP managed to buy a part with the MB and Chrysler numbers identical to his original part after buying a totally different Chrysler numbered part, presumably that new part number was on the sticker on the bag.
The layout of the engraving and printing is different and the other numbers do not correspond to each other but the MB and Chrysler parts are the same on both.
Look at the How-to pdf. The reason it wouldn't surprise me if it was software is the same reason the NA V8 wouldn't work factory for Lantanas swap. Internally the ECU's HW's are exactly the same, but the car wouldn't start from the key, have cruise control or stop looking for the TCU. It's all software.
It's truly amazing everything you can do in DAS, like the fact that all of our car's are loaded with the "base map", then they have 87, 89, and 91 octane maps (in RON). If you virginize the KA then you can change the odometer to whatever you wan't. You can sync KA's (instrument clusters) from one car to another with your mileage displayed. On some cars with Headlight modules you can make them angle based off yaw sensor readings, you know, turn when you turn, angle down for downhill etc... You can make the interior lights turn on when you unlock the car, or not.
Our cars have a lot of programming in them, you just can't access any of it without DAS, and even then you still have to find the settings lol. The part that gets me is that Mercedes doesn't activate some of it...
You could be right though 180, it may not be possible. If not I wonder if we could get ahold of the two and see differences internally? Maybe it is HW. Not sure until my DAS is back.
