I took mine to the MB dealer and the manager said they could not work on it due to the ECU mismatch. Went to the local DODGE dealer and that manager said what MB said was untrue. Apparently, the industry was forced by US Govt. to make all ECU readers compatible within the last couple of years. I am fortunate that this DODGE dealer has a cert. XF mechanic who DOES know his stuff. Later learned that MB was trying to hire him away from the DODGE shop. But, he's still at DODGE. I suspect that the rebuff from MB was more snobbery than reality..
As far as pulling codes, I know for a fact that my boss e class uses a different connector to get the codes on his car. Most cars use the traditional obdII port, germans LOVE to be different.
