Re: Which exhaust setup
I also went the magnaflow route looking for a loud/aggressive sound. Definately an improvement over stock, but there is a drone consequence.
Although better, it still didn't have that bark I was after.
I (finally) found an exhaust shop willing to remove my rear cats. I had them add flanges to the straight pipes that replaced the cats so that I can easily swap the cats back in if/when needed for emissions inspection and testing.
Removing the cats gave me the sharp sound I was after, and under load/hard accel I SWEAR she sounds Ferrari-esque. Awesome sound! Removing the cats mitigated some, but not all, of the drone. As previously mentioned, adding an X pipe may further reduce drone.
Depending on your area you may have difficulty finding a shop to remove the cats. It is illegal in all 50 states (Federal law) to tamper with any emissions equipment so many places won't touch 'em.
I convinced a small one man shop to make my inserts by assuring him I wanted the pipes for track use only, and after fabbing them up he put them in the trunk and sent me on my way with my cats re-installed.
I swapped them back out when I got home in 15 minutes, easy-peasy with the flanges he built in.
Everything can be returned to stock with hand tools, and the cost (with the magnaflows) is reasonable.
