My antennae fell way down the back when it came off the sticky pad but I had no troubles in general use.
As I said in my PM the unit took quite some time, maybe an hour or so and I was on my way home from bluecoupes when it instructed me to put the CD in for the first time. I did start to acquire satellites when I was stationary at bluecoupes house though. I think you have to be moving for it to get its relative position on the earth though before putting the CD in for the first time.
