No, no purchase required. You have to push this pin in if you can turn the key, but if you have had to grind at it you do not have to push it in as it has been ground flush to slide the unit out.
If you have not done this, do it now, Angelo was having trouble with his at Woodward, fortunately he got home OK. Mine was a bit sticky at times and I was not sure if it was the start of the problem or not, when I got home from Woodward I did it just to be safe. You should do it while the key can be turned, grinding at it does not look like fun. You pull the trim away either way, to push the pin in or to see it to grind at it.
