Parking Manual Transmission
I just wanted to see who does what when parking their 6 speed. According to our manuals, page 121, the car should be left in reverse. "NOTE: The parking brake should be engaged and the gear selector placed in REVERSE before leaving the vehicle, especially on an incline." I have always used reverse and was wondering if anyone else does.
On a similar note I was looking at my uncle's '55 Chrysler New Yorker and noticed there was no "Park". All the car had was a reverse, neutral, and drive. The owner's manual stated that If the car were hit while in "park" it could damage the transmission. Therefore there is no park. Park the car in neutral and set the parking brake.
Crazy engineers always changing their minds and setting new rules.
