TJ has RCMs to trade off already soldered. Maybe he would send you one to install, and you send your old one back to him. The sticky key fix is more labor intensive, but if I can do it, anybody can. Just follow the thread for repair. Don't wait till the key won't turn. I removed the ignition lock and popped out the springy thing and little rod, put it back together, and reinstalled. That was 2 years ago, and smooth as silk since then. Figure on taking about 2 hours to do it. You might want to consider using Gary's heated garage. If you plan on getting a CPS to have a spare, MAKE SURE its not a cheap China one, get a good one. I don't remember the brand, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Where's 180 when we need him. LOL Have fun .........
The CPS should be a Bosch.
As far as other preventatuve maintenance, beyon the CPS, the RCM soldering and the sticky ignition, you might think about the battery and the tranny connector leak as the most likely things that can happend that will be road worthy issues. As you know, generally these care are pretty reliable other than a few of these common problems.
