Sorry, that was a joke about cars that are supposed to be repaired and are just left in the parking lot.

If it were here I would connect a few data recorders and monitor all of the sensors when it happens. Used to be a good garage would have a big Sun Oscilloscope that could match a trace of the spark going to each cylinder.

Unfortunately the Crossfire seems to have an early form of OBD-II, my Jeep will record misfires by cylinder but the CF doesn't seem to. If it were to go on for a while I'd bet a cheap IR thermometer could pick out which cyl is misfiring (exhaust port will be cooler than others).

Gut feeling is that you have a weak secondary ignition - once it starts does it drive OK or feel down on power sometimes ? Mechanical issues usually do not heal.

Once I had an E-type with a plug that would not fire under 3,000 rpm. Made for very interesting sounds.
