Might be a complete waste of time but check for a blockage in the air intake somewhere or the exhaust pipe. It costs nothing.
Maybe a 'buddy' has shoved a potato up the pipes.
I had snow up a tail pipe once, I backed into a snow bank, and the car ran like crap.
