Default Thoughts on a Braided Power Steering Line

I currently am having my power steering pump replaced. While being replaced, the garage recommends that I put steel braiding around my power steering pump cooling line. I do have the NW DCAI with Rob's power steering line modification which has about 3' total of rubber hose. There is some leaking around the clamps that I used which probably lead to the failure of the pump.

They of course recommend $500 worth of extra work for the braiding which think is a bit ridiculous. I thinking some better clamps on the end of the rubber hose would work fine. The rubber hose that Rob provides is pretty thick.

Thoughts?
