These cheap filters are used by the quick lube joints and they will fall apart, I have seen one in my second car when I got it. The filter was all floppy and was just plain useless.
The original filter on my '04 Crossfire was a 'paper' filter and it was made by Mann for Mercedes. When the extended oil change period was adopted the recommended filter was changed to the so called 'fleece' filter.
'Paper' filters are OK, just not for 7,000 miles.
Dave, sorry buddy. I just won't take the chance on this. I used a paper filter in the xFire-once. It was collapsed when I removed it 5K later.
