By the by, if I was making a split windshield, I'd use raised metal both inside and out. Yes, you could look down the edge and see that it was a fake divider, but it would have the split window look.

A few years ago, Warren Mosler was making race cars with a split windshield, there was an angle at the split and his cars were friggin fast. When they went to market, though, he was talked into ditching the split wshield in favor of one piece based on customer appeal. His ideas were based on function only. They were called MT900's if my memory serves me, after Mosler and Trenne, his partner. I don't know if they are still made or not.
